These instructions are NOT needed at all for the Dreamweaver version, as most of this is done for you automatically in that version. Instead, this page is for users of the Standalone version only.

The zip file you receive

First thing is to find "divaFAQ-SA_nnn.zip" which we sent you, and unzip its diva/ folder right into the root folder of your website. Also included in the zip file is:

  • the divaFAQ-SA_head.txt file described below
  • the /diva/ folder and all its contents, to copy into your site.
  • a readme file, included in which is a link to the complete step-by-step instructions for adding divaFAQ to your site, as well as a link to a pdf version of the instructions.

Create an FAQ page: the markup

Let me start by saying what you do not have to do: You do not need to add any window.on load, body tag onload, etc, events for divaFAQ - we built that functionality right in.

And now, the steps you do have to take:

When you buy divaFAQ-SA, we provide you detailed, step-by-step instructions for adding divaFAQ to your page. In brief they are:

  • Add an ID, title and class to your Definition List(s)
  • Copy/paste the contents of the file "divaFAQ-SA_head.txt" (we also provided it in the zip file you received)
  • Edit one line of code in that file.

And that's it!

Demonstration Pages

If you wish, you may further customize your FAQs' appearance. To help you understand how to do that, we created Demonstration Pages with divaFAQ already added to them. The link to download this resource is included in the "readme" text file you receive when you purchase divaFAQ-SA. You can explore these demo pages and experiment freely. They're loaded with great tips and suggestions.

To use this great resource:

  • add divaFAQ (with all default values for starters if you wish) to any page on your site (following our How-to instructions),
  • unzip the Demonstration Pack right into the *root* folder of your site and open its index page in a browser.

Uploading the Files

Remember to upload to your server:Site window

  • Your FAQ page.
  • The folder /diva/ with its contents, although from the i/toggler/, i/Q/ and i/A/ folders you need upload only the images you are actually using on the page. These are all static files, so only need to be uploaded once. The default images used by divaFAQ out-of-the-box., are:
    1. i/Q/Q_06-1_open.gif
    2. i/Q/Q_06-1_close.gif
    3. i/Q/Q_05-1_open.gif (when used as single toggler)
    4. i/Q/Q_05-1_open.gif (when used as single toggler)
    5. i/A/A_08-1.gif
    6. i/toggler/T_0_open.gif
    7. i/toggler/T_0_close.gif

Do not upload the (Fireworks) png source files for all these images.
